The Municipality of Faridos stretches out over the heart of the central and eastern Taygetos region. Sights: the ancient bridge (built in 50 B.C.) with five byzantine churches, three churches at Xirikambi, the forest of Pentavli, the mountain settlement of Toriza and the mountain refuge a base for climbing to the summit of the mountain.

The Municipality took part along with the Municipalities of Sparta and Mystras, in the program for the "protectionadministration and tourist development of Taygetos" with improvements to the pathways and the creation of information centres for visitors.

The production of olive oil is important and the "Elaiophoria" events promote olive and its culture. There are festivals at all the villages of the Municipality duringn the summer. On the 20th of July the feast of Prophet Elias is celebrated at the top of Taygetos.
